Shannen’s Story – Baby Loss Awareness Week

Shannen’s Story

Shannen’s Story

My pregnancy with Noah was perfect up until our 20-week scan. We expected to find out the gender and to be told that everything was fine but this wasn’t the case. I went to the scan on my own due to COVID-19 restrictions where I was told that he was two weeks behind on growth and that I would have to come back for a scan with a consultant.

We had four more scans in this time with consultants and each time we were told to expect that Noah would pass away.

We were given the option to end the pregnancy, but we continued with it because he was our miracle. A miracle that took two years to conceive. At 28 weeks I arrived to the scan alone to be told that there was no heartbeat. I had to go home to my partner and son and tell them their son and brother was no longer here.

Noah was born sleeping on the 28th august. The most beautiful boy I had ever seen. He looked so peaceful. In a way this was a comfort to me but it will never take away the pain of losing our son. That pain never leaves you.
